Final Project Topic
Having already taught Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, I have a unit exam that was created, by another teacher, with multiple choice questions and short answer questions. I plan on editing the questions and writing a sentence or two on why I chose to reword or rephrase some of the questions. There will also be some questions that I delete, which I will also write a sentence or two about why I deleted that question from the exam. To go along with this unit exam I will create some group projects with either an independent aspect or option that allows for differentiation. I intend to create selections that involve writing, drawing, and performing. The grade for the unit exam and project will be averaged together for a unit grade. The projects would, I think, help students who do better at something to shine and possibly save their grade. Many students freeze on quizzes, so being able to do a project may help them.

For your classmates who want to do a test, I'm saying 40 items (minimum) with rubrics for essays and partial-credit items.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to do a project, I will cut down the item-count on the test to 20.
So, this is what I would like to see:
1. A 20-item test with various item formats, rubrics for grading the essay/partial credit items.
2. The assignment sheet and grading rubric for the project.
3. An A- sample project that has been scored per your rubric.
Email me if you have any questions.
